the darkness comes
and with it
the loss of hope
the rise of fear
and despair
everywhere bound
here comes those
who would choose
to operate in shadow
boundaries not holding
love not embracing
wisdom never found
we relish the light
to push back the dark
accepting not chaos
but order as a rule
enhance the day
to end the night
yet daily we lose
unable to hold back
the force of the dark
given by nature
to balance our day
night offers renewal
so finding balance
making peace with our foe
the one greets the other
at the dawn of the day
and once again well met
as the dusk slowly settles
