those of us who still claim
to be somewhat human
would like to complain
to those of you who now
have left humanity behind
please don’t dim the lights
you are better than that
for once like everyone else
you shone your light for all
now human rights are rationed
and with each action
in disregard of another
your light fades
your gift to us all
is extinguished forever
