daddy me
is the strong me
fuelled by the love
of, and from,
my children
and the beat goes on
the children who adults become
are their own people
strong and independent
all of them, each
in their own way
and the beat goes on
the old man becomes
a new man
inspired by his children
strong in his own way
until the fading
and dying of his days
yet still the beat goes on
new generations
living and learning
from those who came before
what to leave behind
and what to carry-on
even if not perfect
