Ruby Prompts Prompt one – Fraser composition

Brewed in the land of Macbeth, Fraser’s form slid from the cauldron, a messy mixture, at best. Trying to describe it, takes some moxie, but I’ll give it a go…

  1. Inside the head, there is a jungle of twisted leaves and thorns, signs of ‘No Trespassing’, and dangerous swamps and traps.
  2. Hidden under the skin are some soft fluffy parts that pop out all over his skin, whenever he hears mention of his family, but be warned, if your intent is malicious, these turn into the sharpest of spikes, which can be hurled like projectiles at the one giving offence.
  3. Thrumming in his ears is the constant sound of music — Being an old, white male, the jukebox often gets stuck on classic rock, but give it a thump, and he will allow most music to soothe the savage beast, but too much opera or modern jazz will have him breaking the skip key with his constant stabbing.
  4. Books are everywhere. If they’re not on bookshelves or on electronic devices, they are in jumbled, fragmented form in his knotted memories, or on his endless wishlists. If he’s not at home, you will find him in the library or the Amnesty bookshop. Otherwise, he will have disappeared down one of the many rabbit holes to be found on Medium.
  5. He will be shoulder to shoulder with ordinary people, roasting politicians and the super rich on a spit over the hottest flame, until the humanity appears, at which point they are ‘done’.
  6. Physical and mental health will continually attack him, until they have him squirming on the ground, but pen, paper and keyboard bring relief for at least a temporary period.
  7. His inclination is towards the hearing of all voices, and advocating equal opportunities for all in an unequal world, where he finds hate crimes and hate speech to be revolting.
  8. His political viewpoint is towards progressive politics and those who advocate the primacy of addressing climate change.
  9. His main pursuit is reading, writing and learning, and his biggest weakness is DIY, where his hands turn into two left feet.
  10. He is useless at mathematical thinking, and percentages are clearly beyond him.
  11. He believes that humour (or humor) is best when the first person to laugh at is the self.
