Image of clock showing nearly midnight to illustrate post
Photo by Who’s Denilo ? on Unsplash

it is already late enough
so no more waiting required
and dreams are mostly expired
decisions can be rough
and the body is tired

the mind is tired too
concentration is failing
but there is no use railing
when there is so much to do
and no room left for wailing

onwards and onwards
upwards is by the way
now less work more play
gradually moving towards
routines that rule us and stay

for a few years or more
we overcome body and mind
and soon we come to find
what our last years have in store
whether they be cruel or kind
