Poking my head back above the parapet again. My university project is now submitted, and so now, on that front, I simply have to wait to hear from them to see whether my work is worthy of their MA award – or not.
Thus, apologies for absence, and now, I am aiming to be here constantly, even where I undertake further training, which I will be doing again from January onwards.
My focus will continue to be about writing in the community, this one and my real-life one, rather than working on getting writing published; and on here, I will be continuing to write under the ‘Wellbeing’ tag, possibly within publications, but more likely to be writing independently.
Unfortunately, I will be returning to putting writing behind a paywall again, as I aim to rejoin the Medium Partnership Program again, but will only do so going forward, rather than retrospectively. I have to do that because it is a very rare occurrence to receive money for writing through other means and, as with everyone else, my expenses keep rising. Nonetheless, if anyone wants to particularly read something of mine, but can’t manage the Medium membership fee, it can still be freely read here.
I have noted that a lot of good people have either completely departed, or partially departed, for Substack and other alternative platforms and similar setups. It is not my intention to do that, and I will be aiming to slowly build-up my writing again on this platform, rather than any other.
It seems a little strange to me trying to find my feet again after only about 6 months absence. A lot seems to have changed in a very short time. I’m sure I will become used to the reality of Medium, good or bad, quickly enough.
I have no sooner come almost to the end of one course before I am aiming to do another, but if (hopefully when) I start doing that in January, I do not anticipate any absences as the learning is much more stretched-out (current plan is over 9 years if I live that long). I am aiming to do some undergraduate study in creative writing with the ‘Open College of The Arts’, accredited by the Open University.
Onwards and onwards into a different stage of retirement and a new way of approaching life and learning.
