CONTENT – Extreme violence, intimidation, strong predatory language, domestic abuse, terror.

Celie came rushing back into the house, caked in mud and blood.  She slammed the front door shut, knowing there was no comeback, now.  She headed for the bathroom, dropping her muddy clothes all over the floors as she went, because she could now.

In the shower, she scrubbed herself clean from all the mud, and his blood, dissolving 20 years of him in the process.  She felt like there was almost more tears pouring from her than there was water pouring on to her from the shower, as she let it all out, the violence, the abuse, the screaming, the cuts, bruises, broken limbs, always explained away by her.  And finally, her planning, digging his grave in the woods, after she shot him three times, twice in the body, once in the head to be absolutely sure.

As she dried herself, rubbing away the pain and fear of being caught, she realised that she was mentally and physically exhausted.  Some sleep, next, but one last thing first.  She wanted to know what he had been up to on that laptop, always going on about the wonders of AI, always singing horrible lyrics from songs as he was in there, doors locked.  He had always been singing horrible songs, or rather odd lines from lots of songs, even when he was belting her on the face.

She found the key, got in there, sat on the edge of the huge red leather chair, and opened the laptop.  Her wedding ring caught on the corner, so she took it off, thinking she would never wear it again.

The laptop opened on to an AI screen.  There was nothing else on the screen, but the cursor was flashing, and then there was an outpouring of content on to the screen.  At first, it made no sense, but then she recognised it as all the pieces of songs that she had heard him sing….The words just kept pouring on to the screen….

One way or another I’m gonna find ya I’m gonna get ya, get ya, get ya, get ya

every step you take, I’ll be watching you

you can never leave

you’re strange No one remembers your name

I’ve turned into a monster

there’s nowhere left to run

want to abuse you

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away…Psycho Killer

what’s confusin’ you is just the nature of my game…Just call me Lucifer ’cause I’m in need of some restraint

I’m on the highway to hell

I see a line of cars and they’re all painted black With flowers and my love both never to come back

too late to beg

you’re gonna die I won’t take no prisoners, won’t spare no lives Nobody’s putting up a fight I got my bell, I’m gonna take you to hell

never mind that noise you heard It’s just the beast under your bed In your closet, in your head

Just killed a man… So you think you can love me and leave me to die

I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, ‘Cause so are you

Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach

I’m back, yes I’m back

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones

It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about

I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could, but it’s too late

now I’m back on my feet

You got blood on your face, you big disgrace

Have you come to raise the dead?

You don’t care if it’s wrong or if it’s right

Everybody’s got their dues in life to pay

Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting

there’s no place left to hide

You get a shiver in the dark

Now war is declared

I give myself the creeps

everything isn’t meant to be okay

The devil’s on his way

The screen kept alternating between these horrible lyrics, and a ghostly picture of Frank’s screaming face, an image she was all too familiar with.  She started to scream, too, before she realised that this was just some kind of illusion, some trick that he had rigged-up.  He was just a completely horrible, bastard individual.  She recognised that some of these lyrics were actually from some good songs, and his twisted mind had taken some tiny part of the song to make his vicious list.

She took a deep breath, and reset everything back to factory settings.  No more of him and his horrible tricks.  She would expunge every last part of him from this house and her existence.  Even if they put her in prison for his murder, she would do her time in perfect peace, because he was never, ever coming back, either by vile trickery or in any form of cruel and terrifying reality.  Sleep now. She headed towards her bed, but stopped by the sofa, and slept there, instead.  She would buy a new bed.  She fell asleep immediately.
