16 February 2026 – Cinema Club went to see “Wuthering Heights” at the cinema. It was a bit of a ridiculous film, bearing very little resemblance to the book, and introducing somewhat racy elements to the interaction between much of the coupling going on.

The casting of the two main characters was a bit strange, but befitting a Hollywood blockbuster type of treatment of the story, but we all enjoyed the portrayals by Hong Chau, Alison Oliver and Martin Clunes as Nelly, Isabella and Mr Earnshaw.

Three out of four of us liked the film, despite any shortcomings, and I particularly liked the soundtrack, which I would actually describe as the best thing about the film.

Whilst we did enjoy the film, it was not so much as the promotion of the film seemed to suggest that we might. Again, this might be more to do with the targetting of a younger audience.
